Filter cake – optimum height for maximum performance

In order to ensure the economical operation of centrifuges, operators must consider all relevant operating parameters and adapt them accordingly to the process requirements. However, the influence of the filter cake height is often underestimated, as it plays a decisive role when it comes to the optimum performance of a filter centrifuge.

The ideal height is determined by various factors like permeability, compressibility and filtration resistance. These characteristics depend on the settings of the process parameters, such as rotational speed, filling speed or spinning time.

However, more is not always better – only the perfectly adjusted process parameters affect the filter cake height and therefore throughput and performance of a filter centrifuge.
